Family Day

We are fortunate, living as we do in Ontario, to enjoy the public holiday named Family Day. The name alone reminds you to use the day as it was intended, by spending it with those closest to you.  Today we did regular chores, played, worked on house projects and did all the regular stuff we do.  But we also took time to enjoy this holiday and to celebrate a big accomplishment of the boys this winter, learning to ice skate.

DSC_0061 DSC_0063 DSC_0065 DSC_0069The boy who only learned to skate 1 year ago spent his time whizzing around on one leg doing turns and skating as fast as he could.  His little brother who only learned to skate alone this fall, chased up and down the rink with his Daddy and brother hot on his heels, laughing his head off the whole time.

DSC_0079 DSC_0083 DSC_0085 DSC_0090The weather was cold enough for good ice but not face burning cold as it has been for most of the last 3 months.  The sun beat down out of a fierce blue sky, almost insisting that everyone relish the moment.  It’s easy to have fun on a day like this, to forget cares and chores and laugh at the boys racing back and forth on the ice.
