WIP Wednesday

Work In Progress Wednesday – a rather grandious way of saying ‘I’m still working on my embroidery’ but who am I to turn down a bit of alliteration midweek?  So the Cherry Blossom Doe continues…

I am really enjoying the taste of spring that this embroidery brings.  Each time I finish another cluster of blossom it feels like we are crawling a little closer to actual blooms.  Plus I really, really, really love doing French knots.

I am not the only one who has taken a bit of a shine to embroidery either.  Huwyl has been enjoying some time at the hoop, so I prepared this for him for quiet time this afternoon.

He completed a figure of 8 on Saturday so I thought a spiral would be a nice challenge for him.  I also like the fact that this is one of the forms that will crop up again when we do form drawing and I am intending to explore them all through embroidery prior to sitting down with pencil and paper.  It will be nice to sit and work on our hoops, side by side as we listen to a relaxing audio book.

Last night I also put this together,

Huwyl was very happy to have this waiting on the kitchen table for him this morning.  He really likes routine and rhythm in our day and knowing this is his ‘place’ at the table seems to be pleasing for him.  He was also keen on the H that I had stitched on it for him.

I used vintage fabric that I thrifted a while ago and I am suddenly seeing lots of little projects in this cheerful gingham.  I think it is the yellow, I am definitely in the mood for yellow right now.

What are you working on today?

  1. Wow Emma this is lovely. The next time you are over I should show you the bedspread that my great auntie Janet made probably about 40 or 50 years ago, if you are interested. I think I even have some of her pillow cases in storage that you are welcome to look at.

These are really lovely and bright – I would love to see it when you are done.

    J.
