With my thoughts turned towards winter and Christmas the last thing I expected to find on my doorstep was this:
The flowers that brought such wonderful colour and scent into my home in early spring have been fooled by the (up until now) mild winter and rain and seem to think that it is spring. To protect them from the cold I’ve brought them in and they are now safe and warm in my living room. Even if they don’t bloom, though I sincerely hope they do, these green stems are an unexpected splash of spring colour in a landscape of browns and greys. A reminder that spring is always just beneath the surface, ready to return again. That thought makes winter so much more enjoyable for me.
As the snow begins to drift down outside this gift of green seems even more precious. Wishing everyone an unexpected gift today!
